THE WORLD IS YOURS

I know it is tough to give up a fulfilling career to start from scratch in another country. 
I went through that when I relocated to Italy with my family.
I completely lost my identity when I chose to pause my corporate career for a while to stay home, take care of my family and house, and create a space for my partner to focus on his growth.

One day, I was a successful Financial Controller. On the other, I was a stay home mom and wife.
It hurts too much because you become a nobody. 
Before, you were confident in yourself. You knew who you were. You felt worthy.
And suddenly, you don't even know what you want anymore. 

For someone who was used to being fulfilled and independent, it feels like you’re not releasing your talents or potential.

I thought I’d be ready to restart my corporate career in a few months.
But it didn’t happen as fast as I wanted.
Because of things I couldn’t control and because I didn’t know what I wanted.
I only knew that I didn’t want to be 9 hours in an office every day.
But I didn’t have the courage to admit I was lost.
I put a lot of money, time, and energy into finding a new career path for me.
And many tears as well.

Until I rebooted my system and gave myself permission to dream again.
And dream big, I’d say.
I found the courage to take the first step and enrolled in a Master’s Degree at 38 years old.
And things started to happen: an innovation course in San Francisco, a scholarship for the Master’s, and my decision to start a business in a new country.
To be honest I had no idea what I was doing.
I was just dreaming and taking action.
I allowed myself to experiment.
Experiment with freedom of time, creativity, and living at my full potential.
And I don’t regret it a second!

As time went by, one by one of my negative thoughts about my career went away.

From:
• I can’t compete with Europeans, since I don’t have a local certification.
• I don’t have any idea how to start a business in Italy.
• I can’t be a good mom and wife and still serve clients.

To:
• I'll try something new, take a Master's Degree, and have a European Diploma.
• I will find Italian accountants that speak English.
• I am a good mom, and my kids deserve a happy mom.

And do you know why I got this together and kept moving on?
Because I didn’t give up, even when I worked without earning a penny, just to get the validation I was looking for.
I am no different from you.
